7 actual battery killers (and 2 overrated)

Part of the Guide Electro-mobile batteriesAre you choosing a car? The battery chemistry of specific models can be found in catalogue of electric cars.

The Internet is full of instructions that destroy the battery, and here's a scale based on the real weight, from the things you deal with to the scarecrows you can ignore.

Real killers.

1, hot. Permanent parking in the sun, hot climate, summer at 100 % - the temperature is in the equations of aging exponent. Garage and shadow are the cheapest extension of life.
2. High standing SOC (NMC / NCA). Every night at 100 % = unnecessary stress. Daily limit 80 %. Detail.
3, deep discharge. Regular commute "to zero" and long standing below 10 %.
4, fast charging of frozen battery. The only really bad DC scenario - preheat. Detail.
5. Sprint-stop-hot sprint. Repeated high performance without a chance of cooling (circuit, hill races with full car).
6, extreme raids. Cycles just count - 60 ttm per year is a different league than 15 ttm.
7. Ignoring calls and BMS updates. The producers of the curve are continuously in tune; the old version of BMS can be rougher for articles.

Overrated scarecrows

Normal DC charging on modern refrigerated batteries - the fleet data do not make much difference. Charging "only" up to 80 % as dogma in LFP - LFP vice versa wants a regular 100 %.

years of operation (normal use)capacity - SoH% 10092 8476 036912 LFP - gentle mode NMC / NCA - gentle mode NMC - permanently 100 % + hot An illustration scheme, not a measured curve of specific chemistry or lifetime forecast.

⚡ Try it in practice

Plan your route with your (or dream) car - planner counts on the charging curve, recommends where to go for food and shows the indicative cost of the charge.
